"Two weeks ago, on a whim, a dear friend and I went looking for place to unwind and have fun. From the moment we arrived at Scribner Hollow Lodge, we were welcomed like family. Before even unloading the car, we were invited to the lounge area (w/lovely fireplace) and met great people who immediately invited us to a fundraiser at base lodge (a great cause and super party). Upon entering our spacious "toasty warm" room, we felt completely at home. The view fabulous, the staff, courteous, and the proprietors a delightful couple! Truly part of the community, which speaks volumes. Cool live music Saturday night, in fireside lounge after very nice dinner. The local shopping eclectic, best of all...in room massage amenity, followed by soak in hot tub...we were so content, we decided to leave Monday AM, rather than break the spell! Couldn't find a better time if we tried. If you are looking for a fun relaxing weekend (ski or not) look no further. Have been to Hunter many times...this was a first of many more at Scribner Hollow.

"My husband and I celebrated our wedding at Scribner Hollow on Columbus Day weekend. It was a second wedding for both of us, and our desire was for an intimate, special celebration for family and a handful of friends, and it was. From the beginning planning stages until the day we left, our special event was nothing but perfect. Kate and Guy are truly special people that treated us like family from day one. We cannot say enough about the service, the food and the personal treatment that we received that made us and our guests of approximately 40 people, make us feel at home. Our rooms were comfortable and well appointed (as Bride and Groom we had the Penthouse suite - amazing!) and the service lent by the other staff members was top notch and totally accommodating. Guy is a celebrated chef, and from the hors d'oeuvres that were served to the main entree's, it is easy to see why his restaurant The Prospect, has received top honors from major publications, the food is divine and well presented. The accommodating wine program was equal in perfection, and also award winning and noted in local guide publications.
While the gorgeous, picturesque location could sell this place on it's own, the food and the service provided by Guy and Kate and their staff, make it a destination location to be envied by the local competition. We cannot say enough good things about our experience at Scribner, but the memories we have and the pictures of our wedding day there say it all - Perfection.
Our heartfelt thanks to Guy and Kate and Staff for helping to make the most memorable days of our lives!"

"This was my second visit to this hotel. I enjoyed my first stay so much that I brought my wife this time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The facility overlooks Hunter Mountain. What a view! We stayed in a duplex with a fireplace. The facility is not large, but, it has all the conveniences one would want. We felt relaxed and refreshed when we left. From the warm and friendly welcome, to the knowledgeable and capable bar tender, who it seemed could prepare any possible drink imaginable, and the delicious food prepared with care, served by very friendly staff who were always around us. We enjoyed all the meals that we selected. For me one desert stands out that everyone must try - the warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream! I usually do not eat dessert, but this time I asked for seconds. I strongly recommend this hotel."

"Spent a wonderful weekend with good friends. The Prospect Restaurant was one of the better dining experiences I have had in a long time. The staff from the front desk to the lounge area were fun, hospitable, and cheerful- everyone makes you feel like an old friend. There is no need to leave the property, everything you need is right there! I can't wait to go back."

"Upon deciding to travel to the Catskills with some friends we chose Scribner Hollow as our lodging. We weren't sure what to expect but we were all pleasantly surprised. The staff was courteous and attentive, the room had wonderful views and was clean and bright. It looked like it had been newly renovated. The restaurant was amazing! The food was incredible and the wine list extensive. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The pool was a great place to relax and unwind after long days of hiking. The lounge area had a great antique wooden bar and a huge fireplace that was perfect for after our hearty dinners. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and wouldn't think of staying somewhere else when I go back to the area."

"We liked the closeness to Hunter Mountain. My husband and I both enjoy hiking so after a long day it is great to just drop in the car and drive a short distance to your room. Breakfast and dinner had a wide range of choices. We found the staff to be very helpful with giving suggestions "to do around Hunter." We found our room very comfortable and had a beautiful view of Hunter Mountain. The room was very clean and had alot of amenities."

"My husband is the President of a very large union in NYS and every year two of his union regional coordinators conduct a training session at Scribner Hollow. Not only is this hotel in one of the most beautiful areas on NYS but the staff is just exceptional.
Kate and Guy Chirico, the owners are warm and friendly not just to their guests but like family to their staff which consists of students from a college nearby that offers a program to international students in the travel field. They open their hotel and their hearts to these young people to give them experience that can only be gained by association of working with Americans and learning our customs and language to further serve them in their chosen professions. Many American students also do their internships here.
Guy is an excellent chef and his talents are conveyed from breakfast thru dinner each day. Kate can be seen frequently helping out where needed or just wandering around talking to guests to make them feel at home. There is also one young lady by the name of Melissa who started out as a student doing her internship there several years ago and has become a member of the staff since graduation whom we have watched blossom under the influence of such competent owners.
Hunter Mountain offers relaxation, summer and winter fun and Scribner Hollow offers rest for those that choose to ski, sled or just spend a weekend hiking the many trails. It's not the Ritz but it is both fun and charming in its own way! It is also a hotel where children are welcome with open arms."
